About

The Office of Public Health Preparedness (OPHP), part of the Hawai‘i Department of Health, works to ensure that kūpuna and all residents are ready for public health emergencies and natural disasters. The OPHP focuses on building strong community preparedness, providing training, outreach, and clear communication so that seniors can act quickly when threats arise. From hurricanes to disease outbreaks, the OPHP helps kūpuna understand what steps to take to stay healthy, access medication, find emergency shelters, and maintain essential services. By working with local partners, healthcare providers, and caregivers, the OPHP helps Hawai‘i’s kūpuna be better prepared and more resilient, empowering them to protect themselves and their loved ones during unexpected events.
